Food

Alright everyone. Let's take a few deep breaths from basking in this bicycle adventure that we're all doing. I know this hasn't been easy for you. Probably like the notorious idiom of drinking from a firehose. Since many of you are unwisely browsing this blog with your telephones, if you scroll to the bottom you can see a option to "View web version". This will allow for a much better experience as the web version has side bars of my map that is periodically updated, tidbits of trivia, and a way to contact me - even directly - with questions that you will have. You simply type it on the box and I will respond ASAP as possible.

One of the questions that I am sure you all have is, "What kinds of food have you been eating?" A common, but harmless question that I can ball park. With that I will blast you with food pics of various meals and drinks we've eaten, prepared, or ordered over the past few weeks of the trip.

Since Holly is Asian a lot of people think we're just carrying around a bag of rice with us to eat.

This curry was decent.

A nice colorful Ramen.

A
I rarely get ginger ale for a beverage but this had an Apple twist to it that called out to me. Not bad.

My co-worker, Brandon, and I compete with finding the newest KitKat. Something about Japan and KitKats that you won't find in the States are about 300 different flavors.
I've stared to take a yearning for Guarana soda again just like when I was in Paraguay. But this tastes so much better.

For dinner we sometimes cook a humble meal over our stove. This one is beans and cabbage and prolly something else. It's food so it's good after a long day of riding. Haters will say it's gross.

And for breakfast we have oatmeal usually. this one had sliced mangoes in it. Or peaches.

When we stop at 道の駅 we love to browse the Famer's Markets to see what deals we can find. Today we found carrots, taters, and tomatoes, We made ourselves some stew and bought some fried chicken to plop in. Good stuff.

Loved these pepper Cheetos.

I love rice cream. Except the Halloween themed I ordered was a let down.

Like the KitKats, Fanta flavors are also in abundance.

Remember our host in Sapporo? Here is one of the delicious meals she cooked for us.

We also were craving for a burger and this was so good.

I didn't even eat it correctly. The proper Japanese put their burger in paper first then hold it in the paper and eat it that way (not the paper of course).

Another meal from our host in Sapporro.

A favorite Japanese candy bar that I told you about a month ago, is Dark Thunder. Here are some new flavors of that kind that Brandon and I also compete with each other for.

Strawberry Cheesecake KitKats.

We make out own curry, too.

Dark Thunder is the Chaco Mucho (Philippines' best candy bar) of Japan.

Butter Ramen. Good.

Holly ordered this. Can't remember what kind of Ramen.

Anyone want zombie ramen? No?

One of my fvaorite Dark Thunders.

All three Guarana flavors. Weird that some are clear and some are dark.

Fun chips.

Refreshing cold drinks even if it is 40 degrees F.

Loved this kind.

Pasta and taters. Nothing wrong with it.

One of the treats you can buy at the gas station only in Hjokkaido is this. crusts of bread that are sweetened. This is good for you parents in America that have conditioned your own kids to be so spoiled rotten that you have to cut the crust off the bread in order for them to eat a dang sandwich. They won't dare ask you for this treat. #becausecrust
This melon pan was so good. Stuffed with Oreos and cream and fruit I think? Dang.

A little on the small side but I wanted to support the sweet disabled people working here.

I don't remember eating these now that I'm writing this up.

There's a funny meme that has been going around about a peculiar kind of Doritos that Japan has. Since it has the F word I'll refrain from posting it. Suffice it to say, here are some wasabi Doritos.

Those unique Japanese sodas you may have heard or seen. You press down on the top to get the glass ball to drop so you can drink it. Makes a mess but it's good.

Pasta is good after a long day of riding.

Lunch from somewhere. Where did we get this Holly?

Look at her.

My favorite clown chain restaurant in Hakodate.

It also served peaksa there, too.

And rice cream and a cup of "fries with cheeeeeeeeeeeeeese!"

I'm beating Brandon now.

I'm glad I raided the Taco Bell hot sauce stand on Base before leaving Iwakuni. Love the hot sauce.

The Status Quo cooked me a delicious feast at the Brothel.

Banana Cream Pancakes and whatever HQC made for herself.

Some days we have humble sandwiches. But this egg and onion sandwich was so good.

Went to an apple house and got a lot of apple treats like this thing.

I told you on Bookface a year back that I love the Apple Juice in Japan. This carton was the best.
Apple season is treating us well.

I thought this was an apple but it's something else.

Good ramen stuff.

These frozen fruit/dessert treats are really good. Over the summer we fond a grapefruit one that was so refreshing.

Look at these fun chips with chocolate on them. You can eat them.

I had been craving for a Pepsi. Finally, the 100 yen machine had this huge can. Couldn't pass it up.
In related news, Pepsi tastes a lot like Coke.

More sandwiches and those tube treats to eat.

I'm excited to eat.

Good, cheap food here at this 道の駅.

Runny egg yolks are the best.

I think this rice cream even puts Dr Woolf's Wonderful Premium Homemade Rice Cream to shame. Cone and all this can't be beat.
Salted lemon drink. Very good with quenching your thirst.

You guys know I love my peaksa. Hadn't had it in ages.

All this for only 12 gold. Can't beat it. Unless you're in Indonesia, right Inke?
